Reunion

It had been awhile since
We had been a class
The last
Of the millennium
Or perhaps the first
The last time we shared a stage
I held the mic
In place of the other me
But here we were together
I and she
A reunion
A celebration
A chance to meet our new generation
Now our classmates
Have lifemates
from different places they did graduate
And now have children
Our family grows bigger
And I am happy to be together
Kind of blew it on the planning
Let work get in the way of living
Forgot to send notes
Do more than Facebook pokes
Or Twitter quotes
My class is what matters most
Not my social class
My mates
Ones of past dates
And study groups
The ones who helped you learn
Helped you grow
Gave you the power
To let your light show
And heart glow
To them I will always be beautiful
And that is what they are to me
My family
I manned the grill
And I am happy to be the tree
The one at the center
The one who always remembers
Although I never really took notes
Just drew in my notebooks
To me please connect the spokes
And I will stay here
Always welcome you home
Say it is nice to see you
How are you?
I love you
Wanna go to the lake later?
Let’s talk about the things that are true
Let’s always remind each other
What matters most
Regardless of which coast
Or who makes the most
Whether you came on a plane or a boat
We will remember the good times
Renew our vows to each other
Everyone more like a sister or a brother
We have seen each others worst
Best
And now all the rest
To each other we do bless
Our mirrors
Always there to remind us
Who we are
That we are each stars
But live together in this cluster
For we learned and grew together
Which makes us family
4 Eva and forever
