From One Star to Another

I had played the game most of my life
But one play stands out
All throughout

And all the moments
There is this one
Where I played a key role in how the game was won
Hard to describe that exact feeling

The essence everything is made in
So why don’t we live

For how can I know the magic and wonder of the Lord?
If I do not first heed Their word
Love is the motivation
The most basic and essential emotion
So to quest to understand

In an instant
Everything
No longer just human
A spiritual being

There are special times between us
Moments when it is just

And everything else melts away
Disappears
Into oblivion
Me and you in equilibrium
Dwelling in the inner sanctum
In union
As one
There are those moments though
When we are lost among all the other faces
People caught up in each others races
Whether they have money
Fancy suits
And worship the Easter Bunny
Not Yahweh or Mohammad
Sometimes you and me are lost in the sea
Just tiny parts of our collective humanity
There are those times though
When among all the faces I see yours
I know
Because it glows
And that is why I wanted to talk to you

But this one would be brought

I heard you like me

What’s my favorite color?
And when is my birthday?
What are my interests?

Do you know how I act when no one else is around?

What about books I’ve read
Probably wouldn’t guess if I don’t even care what’s in my head
I see you laughing when I make jokes
But when do I laugh?
Cause that is what I like the most
I know that I know lots of people
That’s helpful for you

Perhaps you think that is the key

But those are all old stories
Glorified retellings of my own history
Actually the book is really a mystery
Because although I tell the stories of the past
I will answer no questions about why it didn’t last
Those characters just members of the cast
And I do have others on the staff
It’s all good
Everyone fails my class
Even the ones who think they can pass
Only looking at me from their perspective
Believing the surface is how we stay connected
We all benefit from a little reflecting
And self discovery
