Questions 2: The Big Bang

What happened before the big bang?
There was nothing is easy to say
Or that it was simply God’s way
All people wonder, but few will look
Spend lots of time, read and write books
What if you find out an answer to this question?
There would be hysteria, madness, congress would hold a joint session
That answer may not just be it
Like all answers there will be more
Another question, a new thought
A whole new way to think of what we are
Regardless the answer you should always ask
Asking questions is never wrong
You should always simply ask why
It doesn’t matter if you will smile or cry
It is important just to ask
Always wonder, always question
Even when that questions is what happened before there was even thunder

I won't Be Silent

I won’t be silent
I won’t be mum
I won’t seal my lips
I won’t hold my tongue

Ignoring the issue is not a cure
The problems endure, the issues alive
Why can’t we talk?
Why can’t we thrive?

I’m sorry if what I said is hard to hear
So is life, so let’s be clear
Things don’t happen just cause,
Or get better over what one person does
Our world and lives improve when our position is no longer important
When we are all people,
One united

Let’s talk, let’s listen
That’s a two way street
We have our own thoughts, that’s fine
But I cannot stand thoughts
That are not from our own minds
We are not very different, virtually all alike
We don’t need to compete, we don’t need to fight
What we need is love, compassion
Please turn to the light
Let’s not wallow in darkness
Let’s join together

We are one, sister, brother

Take a moment, review your thoughts
Not ones from outside, ones within
They have been silent for far too long
We all have the information we need to remake our world
It takes time to listen to hear your thoughts

When we do, we realize our future can’t be bought
Worthless paper we give so much power
We should burn it, destroy it, make bankers cower
It does not serve us, it is not human
It makes us cheat, lie, and steal for one reason:
Just to get more
To stack piles higher
Keep making numbers larger and larger
Now we have more money than there are stars in the Milky Way
Problem being: our minds don’t know numbers that large
We cannot count stars
Our galaxy alone is so large and vast we can’t understand
So why should we expect to understand when the President asks
For another $2 billion for the war in Afghanistan

So again I won’t keep silent
I won’t hold my tongue
Won’t throw up my arms say: “nothing can be done”

The time is here, the day is now
Let’s start talking, not at each other
But to each other, as what we are to one another
Brother, sister, mother, lover

The Ocean

The ocean is vast and deep
it covers most of the earth
connects parts near and far
the ocean gives life, provides life
the ocean is a mysterious place

For most they will never know the depths
they will never know the vast openness
they will never spend time sailing
they will never spend time experiencing the true ocean

For most they experience the ocean at the beach
they sit on the edge and look at the water
some go to frolic in the waves
they feel the ocean’s power
most will never know the depths
never experience all the ocean is

I am like the ocean, vast and deep
only a few will ever venture into my depths
some will travel across my great distance
most will just be on the beach
some will play in my surf
they will only feel my power
and wonder how much more they can know

Forward

Stop! You can’t go this way!
This is backwards!

Onward, Forward
It’s the only direction

The rising sun is what we are searching for
Look onward to the horizon...

You're Always Right, You're Always Wrong

It’s not one
It’s not two, three, or four
It is so many many more

If there’s only few
It is always one or the other
Winners
Losers
One Above
More and more below

I’m right
You’re wrong, but...
I’m right, and
You’re wrong:
The question remains

It’s a point of view
A perspective you take
Standing here: all that looks wrong to me
Standing there: all of this looks wrong to me
You’re always right
You’re always wrong
when there are two choices

It’s not about a point of view
It’s not about where you stand
Or how loud you exclaim: “who?”
“Us?”,”Them?”
We’re right, they’re wrong
You’re always right
You’re always wrong
When there are two choices

It is about possibility
The vastness of it all
It extends beyond the horizon
Above and below, all over, each little bit
All endless, all forever, all infinite

Let’s open our eyes
Open our hearts
Open our minds
Open up to the truth:
We are infinite

We have choices, let’s decide
To no longer pick sides and divide
Let’s choose to open up
See what might be
Show people our vision
So they can see

Let’s decide
We’re done with yesterday
It’s gone
We must face the pain
We must face the hurt
But we must use it
To move us
Challenge us
Not to recreate it, but...
Create the future we all want

Beauty is on the Inside

I see you’re beautiful on the outside
Now I want to see if you’re beautiful on the inside
I want to see inside your heart, inside your mind
I want to know
what you want in life
I want to know
what you do when you don't get your way
I want to know
what you do when you don't like what others say
I want to know
if you’re as beautiful as you look
Just open your heart, open your mind, and let me inside

I don't need to tell you you’re beautiful because you already know
You don't need to be validated, and you don't need to be encouraged
Your beauty comes from inside so you are not afraid
Not afraid of what others will tell you or say
Not afraid to let others know, that the best part is what's beneath

I can see it coming through
your beauty radiates from within, it glows
through your eyes, through your smile
I know you’re beautiful girl, now, don’t be shy
Let that light beam out from inside

Don’t be afraid that it is too bright
Don’t be shy that it’s your light

I see your body
Now show me your heart
Show me your mind
That is where true beauty lies
Not with what our eyes tell us we see,
But from your vision, your ideas, your words
How you say it, believe it’s true,
Then look into someone else’s heart and make sure they believe it too

You’re more than beautiful
You’re more than words
There is so much more to you underneath
But that’s the part I love and want to keep

Questions

I have lots of questions, not sure when I will have answers
Answers may never come, questions are what drive
Why do I always feel that way when you come in the room?
What is it that I feel? Shy? Nervous?
Is this a good sign? Is it a warning sign?
Will we ever get that drink?
Will I keep asking until you say yes?
We didn’t agree on everything we talked about
You had your own ideas, you stood your ground
This is a good thing?
It is better not to agree on everything?
We spent the evening together, then I saw you all night in my dreams
Are we becoming friends?
Did we almost kiss goodnight?
Every time I give up on the chance of seeing you, there you are
I want to move on
Could we move on together?
I see you at night too when I sleep, you control me there too
Do I need to be in control?
Do I need to be the one to make the calls?
Can I not let you take the lead?
You like to spend time with the boys
I asked if you had a lot of boyfriends
You talked about a lot of people coming out
Could I not even hear my own words?
Does it always need to be about a relationship?
What about the chance to meet a special person?
We had such a great night, a great Wednesday
Why can’t I just enjoy that for what it was?
Why do I worry so much?
Why do I even make a big deal out of all these issues?
Do I even want to be giving myself?
Do I want to risk not allowing myself the chance to follow my dreams?
What about me?
Am I loosing myself to worries about dead ends?
I’ll keep asking questions, I will probably never find answers
