It was broken
Even before the start
I had a wounded heart
No ones fault
Just the circumstance
Didn’t choose any of that
But it didn’t change that I wanted to dance
I wanted help from another
Not love from another mother
Love from a girl
Pure like a pearl
Not just white
Not just black
A girl so beautiful
So bright
She lights up the night
Shines like a star
Super bright
She warmed my heart
I hoped she might
I called more than once
Texted from time to time
Thought I wouldn’t get my chance
Just have to pine
Here we go again
Been down this road before
Met a girl
Thought I’d give it a try
Things seemed alright then
Bye bye
Something seemed different this time around
You’d come by the office
Light it up
I’d feel my heart slip
Say to myself: “oh shit”
I felt naked
Like she saw right through
This was something important
I knew
One day
The phone rang
It’s her, dang
We talked, she shared
Said I’d been there, hear ya
Gotta be you
Asked how I knew
I’m old I said, bout to cross over
Begin all a new
It seemed even better
We could talk, she’s smart
Damn this girl warms my heart
It was warm it started to glow
I felt that it was time to show
I wanted you to show you hit the spot
Touched me in a way others had not
I wanted you to know in a way that was beautiful
In a way no one else could
Make you see
I hoped you would
Have not heard from you since
Feeling like I have before
Man, I can’t be that smart
I’m back to having a lonely heart
I wished you would set me free
Because with you, I am me
Few have seemed to want that since
I had a teacher her last name Spence
I am so much more
Brighter than even I imagine
At times like this it feels like a chore
Hard to smile, hard to dance
I feel like only a tiny part
That’s how you feel when you have a lonely heart
I spent time away from her
Let friends take me to a new place
I went there and saw a beautiful face
She had even more beauty inside
It came out
Neither one of us could hide
Openness right away
The way it should start
I can feel a warming heart
I need to learn this part
How to have an open heart
I want to begin
I want people to know when they see me
This outside stuff is not what I want to be
Just like everyone else
I want people to see my true self
To let people see we must open our hearts
How about I’m the one who starts
Stop pretending, stop hiding, stop denying, definitely stop trying
Just be
Let what’s true in you just come right through
There is nothing wrong with that
Because that is how everything made you
I’ll start
I’m going to open my heart
It takes time and we all need help, a little assistance
Helped when I saw her
Helped there was no resistance
Just a safe place of love
Under the full moon above
Venus eclipse for us to begin
Start the new world
Let our new consciousness unfurl
The divine consciousness foretold years ago
It was then the seeds he did sow
Now it has begun to grow
About to take the next step
Our first challenge: all of us accept
Open our hearts
Let the love that’s inside come pouring out
That’s really what this life is about
I went home to reconnect
Consider the next step
A love I thought long passed
Invited me over
We shared a glass
Sat under the stars
Remembered our past
She told me about her time apart
I heard she had a wounded heart
Not fully healed from it’s first encounter with love
I asked if she had heard the words from above
Through a warm embrace
I could read the message on her face
Uncertain of her life in her new home
A smile through tears
About to fall apart
I hope I can warm her heart
She was there at the beginning
At the start
When I was closer to having a pure heart
I saw hers back then too
Not sure what I could do
Everyone wanted her attention
There was another, I hate to mention
We helped each other
Not just giving or getting
Not together under the covers
We reminded each other
What it means to love
Not solely for you man or wife
Not only in this brief life
I could feel years and lifetimes of love through her
Felt it in me
This is how it ought to be
Keep moving closer in the one direction
Keep checking in
Keep making connections
No time for hesitations
No time for dwelling
In our wounded hearts obsession
Let’s use each other to warm our hearts
See we all have the same parts
Now we open our hearts
Drowned ourselves in each others love
Return to the message from above
It is quite simple, quite clear
Love
Plain and simple
When we recall this we are back at the start
Back to having pure hearts

Phoenix
I am not sure what came first
The chicken or the egg
But I do know the first chicken’s name
It was Phoenix
She was always special
Always destined for greatness
Please don’t mistake this
Although there were chickens in the world
And they laid eggs
They were all the same
They all fit in pegs
There was no peg for Phoenix
She was confused at first
Thought it could be a curse
Why was there no place for her?
She was very bright
Seemed to be made of light
Perhaps that is why the other chickens didn’t see
She was out of their sight
All they saw was a flame
They cannot be blamed
We all do the same
Make pegs for us
Assume that is our place
Boxed in all around
Only place to look
the ground
Can hardly hear a sound
Can’t hear Phoenix
Calling us to dance
Now’s our chance
I hear the call
Began last fall
Heard the bells
Heard the strings
Heard the choir
Saw the colors
Felt the energy
Knew there was plenty
Good morning Phoenix
Now what’s next?
Time for a new step
More dance moves
All moves we choose
All of us king
That is what I hear Phoenix sing
Good morning beloved
Today is blessed
There is no test
No need to second guess
Welcome to a new world
Where dreams are true
Where love is not just for me and you
Divine love
love that is true
Good morning
God bless you
The chicken or the egg
But I do know the first chicken’s name

When a Star Dies
What happens when a star dies?
Depends on the star
Depends on how much the star shines
Some stars just reach their inner planets
Just known to those around
While others stars are so large
It is impossible for them not to make sounds
Big beautiful and very loud
When these stars die they didn’t dwindle
Didn’t slowly unwind like yarn off a spindle
When super stars die
They explode, and give off everything from the inside
All that matter
All the elements
All the particles
All the atoms
Fly away in all directions
Bringing new celestial conception
Pretty soon there are many more stars than just one
That’s how we got the sun
Just the matter from another one
Our sun was big enough to make our home
This is the story we’ve always known
It has been revealed many times
The story told
Not just in one book
Not just in a single class
Not one tradition
We must have different expectations
Ask deeper questions
When a star dies
It will create a sun
So we all can shine
Depends on the star
Depends on how much the star shines
Some stars just reach their inner planets
Just known to those around
While others stars are so large
It is impossible for them not to make sounds
