I won’t be silent
I won’t be mum
I won’t seal my lips
I won’t hold my tongue
Ignoring the issue is not a cure
The problems endure, the issues alive
Why can’t we talk?
Why can’t we thrive?
I’m sorry if what I said is hard to hear
So is life, so let’s be clear
Things don’t happen just cause,
Or get better over what one person does
Our world and lives improve when our position is no longer important
When we are all people,
One united
Let’s talk, let’s listen
That’s a two way street
We have our own thoughts, that’s fine
But I cannot stand thoughts
That are not from our own minds
We are not very different, virtually all alike
We don’t need to compete, we don’t need to fight
What we need is love, compassion
Please turn to the light
Let’s not wallow in darkness
Let’s join together
We are one, sister, brother
Take a moment, review your thoughts
Not ones from outside, ones within
They have been silent for far too long
We all have the information we need to remake our world
It takes time to listen to hear your thoughts
When we do, we realize our future can’t be bought
Worthless paper we give so much power
We should burn it, destroy it, make bankers cower
It does not serve us, it is not human
It makes us cheat, lie, and steal for one reason:
Just to get more
To stack piles higher
Keep making numbers larger and larger
Now we have more money than there are stars in the Milky Way
Problem being: our minds don’t know numbers that large
We cannot count stars
Our galaxy alone is so large and vast we can’t understand
So why should we expect to understand when the President asks
For another $2 billion for the war in Afghanistan
So again I won’t keep silent
I won’t hold my tongue
Won’t throw up my arms say: “nothing can be done”
The time is here, the day is now
Let’s start talking, not at each other
But to each other, as what we are to one another
Brother, sister, mother, lover
