Fall in Love

 

The weather is less nice

Everywhere I look

Pumpkin Spice

The air is crisp

And cool

All the kids are in school

Going to games on Friday nights

Colored leaves shimmer in the sunlight

Fall to the ground

Crunch and make sounds

The harvest abounds

Fall is all around

Although I say winter is my favorite season

I do love fall for several reasons

There’s football

Sweaters

Jack-o-lanterns

And our time together

As fall comes

So does your love

Back in 1987

Before I even knew

I learned that love from you

In 1992

After three years I asked you

To go with me to the game

Be my girl in name

In ’96 and ‘97

With fall came

I found the key to Heaven

In 2001

After the best game

Another love came

In ‘02

I missed and I knew

She got away

Still upset over that day

But maybe again… Someday

At double dog in 2006

My twin flame and I were going to make it stick… But it just did not click

By 2010

Was living in DEN

It was then

I found the key to Heaven again

But it was not until the fall of ’11

That we caught that game

And we made love in Tebow’s name

In 2013

I was back on the local scene

Came home to a nightmare

But you made it a dream

Then there was 2018

When we watched Monday Night Football

Again there was love in the fall

In 2020

We found our own beach

So our love would be discrete

Fall is for football

And fall is for love

Says the Lord above
