It is August
And Summer wanes
Went so fast
I hardly knew it came
But in these few months
I’m not the same
The sun shines bright
And long are the days
But tomorrow is a bit shorter
The air a bit cooler
And fall approaches
As leaves leave their branches
School has started
And town is full again
Friends meet friends
And make new friends
Something is beginning
But it is summer’s end
Football season is almost here
Two a day practices
The sounds of whistles and pads
I’m definitely glad
Football is some of the best fun I’ve ever had
That means the summer wanes
And time is running out to swim in the waves
Or playfully misbehave
For all these precious moments to save
In its fleeting moments summer’s sweetness remains
Even though it is coming to a close
And there are games and school to look forward to
I wish for a few more long days with you
Just us two
Enjoying the sunset from a bench by the lake
Eating ice cream and eating cake
It is a special moment we can make
The clock is running out
Let’s make love
Cause that is what summer is about
It’s not done yet
Even though it wanes
And its end is near
There is still time to celebrate

And no one is around

Savoring summers final moments
Because soon it will be fall
Football and turkey
Then it will be winter
Skiing and flirting
Spring comes after that
Flowers and new life
