Love Knew

Last night
I was in the same backyard
That I had spent years in
Guessed the ages of the trees
I recognized these
And though it had been years since that house was in my life
I found myself there last night
Now my friend owns it
Isn’t that nice
When I was there I was polite
Helped cook the food
As I had before
Even helped with the dishes
As they piled up more and more
We go around the circle again
Still friends
Still in love now
As we were then
Why do I think as though I wait to begin?
When I already began
Long ago
Why I could not see
What I already did know
Been in love with so many people already
And them in love with me
That love has no ending
It will last for eternity
I say that with certainty
For that is love’s nature
The way it exists
It is eternal
Never will diminish
So now I sit and wait
For my flight to take flight
And I can witness a wedding date
Of friends I’ve missed
Others there whom I am sure I kissed
But in our time apart
Never a moment I evicted them from my heart
But yeah, we do live apart
But sure our friendship did already start
Our love for each other will never stop
Last for as long as all things last
Which is always
Just from time to time re-cast
Given a new role by God to be something new
But always remain in love with those you knew
Those close to you
And those that help you grow
Why wait?
When love already knew
