Fall

The days shorten
The wind blows
The leaves colors deepen
Until burnt umber
Fall from the trees
Become fertilizer for next springs leaves
And soon
The season in between
When I again start to dream
Of scenes blanketed in white
Almost here
Not tonight
Now the smell of pumpkins are in the air
Ghosts and ghouls in the town square
Out in the woods
A witch named Blair
No one seems to care
Laughing
Throwing candy everywhere
People actually out for a scare
To the movie theater with your sweetie
It’s okay to be scared baby
Get close to me
I’ll hold you
The whole time through
Maybe we could go to the graveyard
And stare at old tombstones
Just us
Let’s be alone with the spirits
They can be witness
Confirm we do love each other
The way I love the fall
Smile at you when we pass in the hall
And by now
I’ve asked if I could call
I did
We talked
You said I could call again
For now though
We’re just friends
That is fine with me
Because love is always equal to infinity
When we say goodbye on the solstice
It will be fine
Although not mine
You’re always a part of my heart
And always on my mind
Just like Nature’s time
Spring turns to summer
Summer to fall
Fall to winter
Now repeat all
For now until forever
The only thing that will change
Is the weather
