One of Us

Let’s be our best
Because we all know we can
Don’t need a college degree to understand
Actually before school you should of known you we’re a part of God’s plan
More than a man
Or woman
An unlimited being
Designed out of love
And crafted compassionately
For love there is no limit to our capacity
Why are we acting so selfishly?
As if life were a game
Only meant for winning
Everyone in our path
In the way of our getting
No thoughts of giving
Just what’s the score
And what’s the inning
A lot of Christians
And a lot of us sinning
Last time I read the Gospel
The wise words of the Apostles
Didn’t read much about possessions
But it was clear Paul had an obsession
In his letters to the Corinthians
Love got plenty of mention
Those words stick with me
Love is patient
Love is kind
Much rather keep that in my mind
Then waste myself working for money all the time
And extravagant things
Why should I?
I am a human being
A Divine Machine
Hand crafted by Lord Everything
Made special and unique
My own marks at the end of my hands and feet
Eyes that are only mine
A heart that shines
Yours does too
I am just like you
We are all the same
Just different in prints and names
None of us win when we play this game
Of who is better than who
Or what I do
Is more important than what you do
We have our own paths
But from the same mold we have been cast
Our bond will forever last
Now here is our task
Remember we all need each other
Much closer to brothers
Than we are to rivals
We need everyone’s effort
For everyone's survival
Each can do the part they can
Those who can lend a hand
Do so
And do understand
That others still deserve their share
Because through our pure hearts we always care
There is no longer a reason to deny
Or keep asking the question why
