There is one day on the calendar that is always special
At least to those who like the colors brown and blue
Love elephants
Go on to do things benevolent
Know cheer
And merriment
Those of us who have called Tufts home
Know Tuftonia Day
Is a day to celebrate
Jubilate
To be proud of our university
Even if that day
Is the first one you pay
Before the deadline in May
You get to say
I am a Jumbo today
and for everyday
Especially today on Tuftonia Day
I got to be back this year
This time
To be a part of when Tufts worlds combine
Students, new students, alumni
Thought back to all those old memories
My personal Tufts history
There was triumph
And some tragedy
Both as they were before
Champions of the playing field
Running up the score
But never a relationship that became more than just sleepovers
And an instant when I did adore
Mostly a bore
Or could not get their attention
Or I just plain blew it
And my feelings I never really mentioned
All of these lessons
And preparation
For my life ahead
A part now also left behind
But parts forever in my mind
Seem to be always wearing a Tufts t-shirt
On the day I see the signs
When I decide to take a wild ride
And a short visit to the other side
What does that mean?
Through Tufts all things unseen
Become seen?
An education like no other
Every lesson in life covered
At least introduced
The hardest things in life
At Tufts I cut my first tooth
Now I go onward and forward
The fulfillment of my dreams
I head toward
