Around the Bend

…Around the bend
The first person I met, I swear was my friend
“Hello, good to see you again”
He said it with a smile and a familiar face
“Let me be your guide, let me show you this place”
The light in the distance seemed further away now
The path I chose was long and winding
I was going to do some finding
I figure I’d rely on this one who called me friend
Where should we go I began
“Right this way”
He grabbed me by the hand
Took me to a place that was dark
I wondered had I chose right
I thought I was headed for light
There was another there
A beautiful face, and beautiful hair
But his face was full of hurt
Far too young to be in this state
“Who is that?” I gasped
“Not sure, why don’t you ask”
“What’s wrong? Can I help?”
I reached for his hand
Tried to pick him up, help him stand
He wouldn’t look up, just looked down
I bent over and saw his face
It was only covered with a frown
When I looked in his eyes though
There was no night
Only the most beautiful light
I see that I said
He heard me and lifted his head
“Let’s go find more,
He is going to take use us there”
I pointed to the guide,
He was standing there looking sharp in his colorful tie
“Come on” he said “we are going find a more beautiful sky”
The three of us joined hands
Began to explore this new land
“What’s your name?” he asked the guide
“Same name you call yourself inside”
“Me?”
“Sure that will do,
How about I call you me too?”
He smiled and looked up a little more
The guide then pointed to a boat,
Resting on the shore
“I think we should take that, it will take us the great distance we will travel”
“How long is the trip?
What if there is a storm
What if someone get’s sick”
I began making any protest and complaint
He looked up at me
Eyes glowing
Pure heart showing
“The water is filled with fish to eat,
Tasty, healthy meat.
Every storm will pass in time
And when someone is sick
We’ll rely on each other,
As if we we’re brothers”
His voice was clear and true
A divine spirit, Beautiful through and through
So the three of us sat out in the boat
The whole world opening before us
Ready for the journey that will bring us closer together
Not further apart
There were three
But all our names me
