Day Two (Last Week)

Straightened things up today
Getting ready to pack it all up
And pull the door shut
Close this book
Start another
On a hill too
But the other
Same basic cost
Both sky high
Leaving plenty high and dry
Not sure I will find out why
To so many questions that I have about this place
Why can’t I just stay here?
Even though I felt I made that clear
I just wanted to be part of the team
A long career here I did dream
I guess I will just take this victory lap
Shake hands and say thanks
Go to the pool and splash
Waved farewell to the graduating class
Already got to meet the new students
The ones I did help to admit
They are the same as all the others
18-21 I checked off each one
Saw their grades
Read their recommendations
And resumes
Often would laugh at their essays
Oh 17 what I would not be to know you again
But this week marks the end
Time to make new work friends
After tomorrow
There will not be much week left
What happens here without me
One can only guess
But I am looking forward to my start fresh
I have learned
That this experience
And the next
Are in my life for me
And in my life to bless
Next weeks future no need to guess
For I intend to make it a success
