Day One (Last Week)

Today is one of the last days
The first until there is none
So yes
Today is day one
I think about what I’ve done
Been here
For about four years
I would of been present for more
But I just stood waiting at the door
Knocking and knocking
But opportunity never came
Learned I am really bad at this game
Bu who I am that did not change
Now it’s time to leave
My feelings do not wain
My heart does not feel pain
Just gain
Cause I learned so much
Felt love
From my co-workers touch
I wanted to learn about this place
I always knew
I said no years ago
Came back
Started here brand new
Now a part of this school
We both grew
Helped new people come here too
This place is great
I found this to be true
Even though I was not fond of what I do
I wish I could stay in gold and blue
But that didn’t happen
So I went looking elsewhere
To find a place that would care
About me
So I in turn could care about the students
So I could care about thee
I am leaving
But here I will still be
And I hope my spirit will be free
