That Flight

At the airport
Tearful goodbyes
And the friendly skies
Upset people
Frustrated travelers
Lots of TSA Agents
But it’s just for show
Cause bad things always get through
Even with all they make you do
Strip off your clothes
And empty your pockets too
No shoes
Now they want a naked picture of you
At least they got sweet uniforms in blue
And all wear gloves
Looks serious
It sure does
I have no care for that
Cause I just gotta get back
To the Mile High
Been six years since I sort of said goodbye
Didn’t have a ton of time
To write and recite all these rhymes
Maybe next time
Maybe my next life
It can seem right
Won’t slip off into the night
Would I of stayed?
I dunno
I might
But that choice has come and gone
We all had to move along
Get more strong
Decide on our own what is our song
But it is almost time for my flight
And I’ll lay my head down in Denver tonight

Mercury: Venus' Sweet Friend

Until next time
I guess this is goodbye
I guess we never got around to asking why
Didn’t really try
Just invented reason after reason to deny
The truth we both know
And really have known
In all this time
Our love has grown
But now we part
Again
Promise we’ll always be the best of friends
And I’ll be there when you divorce again
Blame it all on yourself
As you will
Yet
I’ll love you still
And know what I’ve always known
So few men actually want to see you
On your throne
Just rather have you on their arm
As decoration
To add to their charm
But I see all of you
Your most beautiful version
Your divinity shrouded in your humility
And we say goodbye
Because I feel guilty
For letting yourself have your own feelings
Cause when we walk together it is confusing
How we can love each other so deeply
And just stay silent
Say goodbye
Exchange gifts
And kind words
But never good morning in the end
Just good bye
My sweet friend

Full Hearts

With our hearts full
All things we can fulfill
But without
We can do nil
In spite
We do not thrive
Only the “strong” survive
Claim dominion
And the power to preside
Without love
The world we have
Is the one we deserve
Because on all occasions we fail to learn
The same lesson the Lord always provides
We mourn someone’s suicide
And ask why?
But do little to change the world in which we do reside
A world that can make those feel case aside
Worthless
And not Divine
Even though the Lord says otherwise
But self-loathing equals dollar signs
To those that love money
And are capitalists
Their greed has set their souls adrift
Separate from God
Because they are empowered from giving “jobs”
Forgetting how much suffering they cause
And how their fellow man they wrong
But
With our hearts full
With Love as our guide
In Heaven with God we can forever abide
For we do Their job
When we spread love
As in Heaven on Earth shall be done

Back at the Lakeshore

It’s summer
That’s when we go to the lakeshore
With the view I adore
Shimmering water
Sunshine
And no care for time
Punched that clock
But instead of spending dimes
Came to the lake
To let my mind unwind
Let my body be cooled
And feel rejuvenated
Should I go?
It should not be debated
Why would I have even hesitated?
I know my friend is here
Waiting
Whether people are sitting on their bench or not
I’m hot
And the water is tempting
I know it is refreshing
I jump in
And join all the others
My local friends
Sisters and brothers
And a few tourists
Who have found our secret spot of rest
Please come
Be our guest
No need to wait for a special request
The park is open
And the lake
It’s the best
For summer’s season is ending
A new school year is beginning
But the lake keeps calling
Until I hear from my friend
Who’s always here
The lakes too cold now
No more swimming this year
I’ll see you again
Fall is set to begin
And
Next summer is just around the bend

It is Now

It is now
This time
This season
No need for a reason
Whether it be pragmatic
Or spiritual
Insignificant
Or crucial
There is not a need but this moment right now
Just breathe
Just that one heartbeat
Inside your chest
No matter worst
Or best
No right answer
No test
Just this moment right now
Even on this vast planet
Spinning in an even bigger galactic dance
No need to take a stance
Just be here
In this moment
Right now
God is not asking for your atonement
Just show up please
Be there for you and me
And everybody
If we can just arrive
And be here right now
We won’t just want to survive
Or keep posting #thrive
We’ll be more
So much more
Than what we do now
And how we keep score
Never getting enough
Always wanting more, more, more
Here in this moment
Right now
We achieve our greatest accomplishment
To live and breathe
The way Lord Everything
Has meant it to be

I Return

I return
Again after a long weekend with friends, family, and kin
I realized so many things
In just a little bit of time
Most importantly
What I choose for my life is mine
I am the only one who needs to care when my dreams arrive
And it will be my measure of what it means to thrive
Not living this life just to survive
Because I’m the king of the jungle
The ultimate predator
Devourer
And destroyer
Not super concerned with who is my employer
But rather where I can get a good lawyer
Because like all kings
There came challengers
Niggaz that be trifflin'
And cops that be assault riffling
But since they can’t see the light in me
I must strike
Or start a fight
Then spend a night in the slammer
In the morning
Got charges to answer
But I beat the case
Like those whack challengers
Then pray to God for forgiveness
Lord show me your grace
Give me humility
Put me in my place
Which is here on Earth
As a member of the human race
Equal to all
And above none
As in Heaven on Earth
It shall be done

Lessons Past

I’ve been keeping time
Asking the Divine
Not really trying to rewind
But of my happy memories
I always want to remind
Smile
And hope they stay longer than just a little while
Hope they scar my heart and mind
In the best way
So I can look back and always replay
All those happy memories
I won’t close the door on them
Or regret the memories
When she said I don’t even want to be friends
Goodbye
The end
Soon
Seven more years will have past
And this time
I am promising myself not to become my demonic self
Although I may still get angry
Even furious
I remember what I really am is curious
No need to challenge God in all aspects
Or plead with them to save myself
But ask them what I really want
And that is to know thyself
Ask them to send me my best self
Then ask the Lord to carry me to Their highest shelf
Not for material wealth
But to live in Their Divine Health
