Utility Costs

Life is about choices
To get something
You have to give something up
To have everything
That’s not even a thing
Because only God controls all things
The end
And the beginning
Of everything
So today I choose
To skip my homework
And go to the lake
Because as summer goes
It is getting late
And today the sun was hot
In it I need to bake
So I did what I always do
When the choice is two
One, your work is due
The other, to bring life to you
Memories and good feelings
Stress easing
My sensations pleasing
I can still get my homework done
But soon it will be September
And there will be no more summer fun
No more time at the lake shore
Under a golden sun
If you had my choice for you?
Which one?

Chessboard Cities

I saw an old brick house
It was worn down
And the windows bust out
But the bricks were solid
And the foundation strong
I wondered how long?
Had this place been forgotten?
Why was there no family
To make that house a home
Why was the yard overgrown
And why were there no garden gnomes?
We went further and I saw
What I already should of known
Faces like mine on this side of town
All different shades of black or brown
Wounded souls
Who still bear the burden of our forefathers toils
Hands dried and cracked
From working the white man’s soil
But that was long ago
So now why do blacks live in rundown neighborhoods
Where whites don’t go?
Unless to buy buildings to make condos
Well here is something I do know
That sickness
And wickedness
Is still in us
So even though it is 2018
Skin color seems to be the only thing seen
Nothing in between
Blacks still not human beings
Just blame us for being lazy
Because the truth be
They had a role in this reality
No need to only blame
Or rub it in their faces to shame
For in that way none of us change
No one knows the the whole truth
And the full story
None of us know
God in their true glory
When we worship in separate houses
But read the same book
And praise the same Christ
Who promises us eternal life
The one who is preparing us all room
In the Lord’s house of light
Why will no one rebuild those houses for the men
And women?
Who now stand outside them
Who need dignity and respect
Cause our DNA does not forget
How and why we got here
Tormented, tortured, taught to live in fear
Hard to find love in these circumstance
For others or for ourselves
Somehow it became just about wealth
Bad physical health
And some really fucked up mental health
I can see that
Found out even more on the journey within
Where this story did begin
I also saw where it might end
In my dreams
We were all more than friends
Finally acknowledged we are all actually relatives
Would you rape and kill your sister?
Or sell your mother?
Or deny your brother?
When they show up on your doorstep
With nothing left
Drenched soaking wet
It’s our connection to each other we do forget
For why?
A car that looks fly?
First class when you fly in the sky?
The biggest granite tombstone when you die?
What if no one came to say goodbye
Or no one was there at the Lord’s house to say hi?
Now what has all that money bought?
What has all that hatred brought
Chessboard cities
Black squares distraught
White squares abundant
With schools where classics are taught
Grocery stores with unprocessed meat
No trash in the street
Everyone got Nikes on their feet
I am still unsure why it is this way
Why we forget this color grey
The in between
The part that is both black and white
Both day and night
Heads and tails
The coin complete
But it is more than that
All colors and shades in fact
And if we want the American Dream in tact
We must be true to that
We still have a long way to go
Our hearts still have a lot of room to grow
Will we get there?
I dunno
However this I do know
I read it in a book so you can too
Treat others like gold in all you do
No matter their skins tone
Cause what’s on the news
That’s not true
To know another is to know you
And to know you is the only way to know
God is true

NYC 2018 (8 Million Stories)

Everyone has a story
Everyones own start
Unique
Like the beat of their heart
Here we are
Not at all apart
On top of each other
Literally
Stacked forty stories high
No one waves bye
Looks and says hi
When a million other faces walk by
Why not?
Why not try?
Why not wave that hardened life goodbye
See those other stories as Divine
Even though there are more than 8 million combined
Can we not do more than survive?
Can’t our love for each other thrive?
Even in this cruel city
Even though it is so busy
Cars honking
Subway cars screeching
Everybody very concerned with pleasing
But the anxiety has no easing
Unless our hearts melt
The experience of 8 million stories felt
On this we all can reflect
Love is what we should expect
Not just respect
Or visibility
But a life aligned with infinity
Where who we are
Is what we should be
Even if we are just one in 8 million histories
8 million individual paths
On life’s cosmic class
At the end
We all pass
Onto the next journey
Still with those we shared this trip with
Maybe now your views shift
For those you dis
You meet again
And cannot miss
Maybe this time you see them as a gift
A beautiful story out of 8 million
A worth that cannot be counted in billions
All human life is precious
And we all know this
So why these feelings do we dismiss
When if we do embrace
Our lives shift
From anxiety
To pure bliss

All in All

All in all
Things are fine
Going well really
I am living happily
I guess though I feel lonely
Like no one here really knows me
And though I did have that epiphany
I still can’t say it clearly
Or in a way that anyone can hear me
I remember it throughly
The details
And the scenery
I am just not so sure that is why I see things differently
All my wonderings based here in reality
I’m all set when it comes to fantasy
Been there plenty
I know the difference between now and eternity
Yet people just seem to laugh at me
Not only when I say things jokingly
But when they look at me
Poke fun of my dress mockingly
Not just about me
It’s about all of us
And thee
Why go to hatred so easily
When pain is all it brings clearly
Why do we only see what is different
And can’t see almost everything is the same?
To do so
All we do is change
Remake our heart
So that love is our guide
We will thrive
Not merely survive
Through this corporate slavery
Just living day to day
Every two weeks
We get pay
And 1.5 vacation days
No
This is not the only way
And I wonder why
It seems so hard to see
This world
The Lord did not give
It is the world we made
By choosing to forget our heavenly ways
By denying our truth
By only seeing dollar signs
By not remembering we are better when we combine
We could live any other way
To start
Love is the only word to say

Lessons in Love

Will there come a day?
Hopefully not much after today
When I hear you say
You’re sorry you went away
It probably would of been better
If you stayed
Then at least I would not feel this way
I would have the honor to hold you again
We could make amends
Feel serenity begin
Our lives
I want them to blend
Our daughter could have both our names
One at the beginning
One at the end
In the middle
Something new
Just between us two
That is what I miss the most
Me
And you as the host
Our voices together
Making each song we play better
I wish I could say whatever
And be glad you’re gone
Cause like you said
You moved on
Well I got twenty new girlfriends now
So there
I rather have your vow
Cause I know you loved me
Even if you didn’t want me to
See
And I blew it
Believe me
But there is no reason for us
Both to live in misery
Baby
Now I got everything
It’s just you that’s missing
Remember us kissing?
Now I am just left wishing
Trying to undo a past
Wanting to laugh
But I see your name and gasp
Oh why God did it not last
Why would I feel this way
If it would only lead to dismay
How could I know
If towards your heart I did not go
I guess that’s life though
We can’t have all we want
Even if it was ours
We thought
It is true
The best thing in life are never bought
And I guess
You were just another lesson in love taught
Although I feel like I’ve failed
I know in the end
Love will always prevail

In Jest

No need to make any other calls
Cause you’re already the one
But I pretend I never won
Always second place
Never anyones ace
But I do love
That is true
I just blow it with the things I do
Stuck on being who I was
So I can’t expect your hugs
Because who I am
Is actually a man
Unafraid of what to do
What to say
Or just waste all my time wondering
Who
When it’s you
Standing right in front of me
Someone who waits patiently
And gives of themselves
Cause it’s free
Who knows what we can be
But we will always be nothing
If I won’t be me
In jest
I decline protest
But I really want you laid on my chest
Naked
So I can feel your breasts
Instead I make you guess
Seem as if it is just conquest
My feelings
Regret
Because the dishonesty
Because I lie to you
And me
And then
You flee
And why shouldn’t thee
For no sense in faking
And only enjoy the love we’re making
When we could have it all
Each others dates to the New World’s ball

Ourselves

Gather around everyone
Like all nine planets
Around the sun
Come
Come
Yes, and the little ones
All need to hear
All are welcomed
Both far and near
We are together
In this life
On this planet
As one
One aspect of the Great Central Sun
Whether we be man
Or mouse
Whether be woman
Or rainbow trout
All is always one
Each heart beating different
Than the next one
But together in rhythm
Conducting by the waves of the sun
We have won
Defeated ourselves
No longer created our own hells
And dismal prison cells
Cleaned up the toxic well
Made sure the water was clean for all who dwell
Decided that no longer all we needed to do was sell
Or be chosen
And hear wedding bells
In the mirror
We saw our own reflection
Wondered why we cared so much about complexion
Looked more
And gazed into introspection
The choice was ours
And we chose to rise
Put all these petty things aside
So on Earth is where Heaven shall reside
And we will live in the Lord’s Paradise
