A Chance

Take a chance
Roll the dice
Gamble on your circumstance
Because life is a gift
No punishment for thrift
And no reward
For loads of gold
The point of existence
Is to simply enjoy the magnificent
Not worry so much about decisions
For each choice is neither right or wrong
Left or right
Up or down
Back and forth
Or all around
The choice we make
Is simply the path we take
And on the journey
We learn
We grow
We realize
That life is lived on the inside
Not just what we show each other
Or outsides
No need to over-think what we decide
More important to go along for the ride
The Lord’s lesson do abide
For questioning
Is very different from understanding
And we only grow through learning
This is best done on our own spiritual journey
Each day on earth while it is turning
Our spirits awake
And our souls yearning
My heart burning
Some of its rooms now empty
But I still have love in plenty
Even though some of my hearts tenants are no longer renting
They have not been evicted
Or their lease ended
They just left
It was kind of unexpected
I try not to feel neglected
Or rejected
It would be nice to see the light in their room
Cause I actually never got the chance
I just made the space and invited them to stay
No thanks
They did not say
But never came in either
Just stayed a minute
Then bounced
This will happen more
On that I will count
Just what happens
When you take a chance
Ask a very beautiful woman to dance
Try and show her your heart
And how you feel
But there is no agreement
There is no deal
No reason to stop
Or to quit
Or to feel like shit
Just a chance for your heart to learn
Realize in love there is little to earn
For we all deserve
It is rather a chance
And just one
To really understand the power of Love is limitless
And last forever
So not matter the times
And no matter the number
If not in love now
There will always be another

Coronation

Jupiter
The king of kings
Is on their way back
3rd time in fact
I am aware of that
And know what that means
A year of fate is what the cosmos deems
Here I am
Without a queen
No need to wonder
Or feel sad for being denied
Why I am without is no surprise
Cause I focused on me while I climbed
These last twelve steps
Dog to Rooster
Only thought of you
Little did I do
To honor
Or show my love to you
Just acted strange
Only reached for you while deranged
Promised someone I’d change
Never did
So on my coronation
It will be me standing there
Scepter in hand
But no woman
Crown of jewels that shines
No one glad to call me mine
Mastered both space and time
But the closest I came to you are these rhymes
I am alone
But only sometimes lonely
This life is for me
And a part of it you will always be
Just one step left
I can see the top
Too late to even consider I stop
Although I walk alone
Towards the pinnacle
The throne
Not a lot that I own
Just my feelings
Just my being
If I’ve missed out on anything
It’s you
Because I was too busy doing what I do
Things that concern none but me
My thoughts I hold secretly
But feel for you so desperately
Think longingly of things heavenly
As I’ve climbed
Mostly focused on mine
Even if you were trying to get my attention
I missed it
And my love I failed to mention
I can’t fail this test
Please professor may I have an extension
Unfortunately
It does not work that way
I had to keep climbing
No time to delay
So on I went
For this life is what I was meant
This walk alone
To my palace
My heavenly throne

Ten Years Gone By 2

Ten years went by
I didn’t even notice
Just been living one day at a time
Then it was two more
Time sure does fly
Is it even a thing?
Who knows?
Maybe if I learn the theory of the strings
In all this time
Ten years plus two
Look what has happened
So much to describe
My feelings about it
I’ve been trying to transcribe
In these words
Is really the best I did decide
How ten years
And 2 more
Can feel like just a few days
Filled with things too many to say
Felt the way we are meant
To the other worlds I went
Felt love
Heaven sent
In these years I continue to feel the same
Happy, grateful, really glad I came
That I showed up for this life
That Earth was my home at birth
Grateful I made it back from that night so fateful
And when I drove home from the desert I was thankful
Aside from that
I would not trade what I did
Left town to no longer be a kid
To become more than a man
To become me
And live in me peacefully
Honor thyself
Love thy neighbor
As your brother
It was simple all I did discover
In the years back then
Now two more then ten
To love is life’s certainty
In it we live in eternity
So years matter not
Even ten times twenty
I wish to do it gently
But love fiercely
Like the fire of life inside of me
I promise this to thee
And I promise me
Most importantly
To be love
For that is what I am meant to be

Tuftonia Day

There is one day on the calendar that is always special
At least to those who like the colors brown and blue
Love elephants
Go on to do things benevolent
Know cheer
And merriment
Those of us who have called Tufts home
Know Tuftonia Day
Is a day to celebrate
Jubilate
To be proud of our university
Even if that day
Is the first one you pay
Before the deadline in May
You get to say
I am a Jumbo today
and for everyday
Especially today on Tuftonia Day
I got to be back this year
This time
To be a part of when Tufts worlds combine
Students, new students, alumni
Thought back to all those old memories
My personal Tufts history
There was triumph
And some tragedy
Both as they were before
Champions of the playing field
Running up the score
But never a relationship that became more than just sleepovers
And an instant when I did adore
Mostly a bore
Or could not get their attention
Or I just plain blew it
And my feelings I never really mentioned
All of these lessons
And preparation
For my life ahead
A part now also left behind
But parts forever in my mind
Seem to be always wearing a Tufts t-shirt
On the day I see the signs
When I decide to take a wild ride
And a short visit to the other side
What does that mean?
Through Tufts all things unseen
Become seen?
An education like no other
Every lesson in life covered
At least introduced
The hardest things in life
At Tufts I cut my first tooth
Now I go onward and forward
The fulfillment of my dreams
I head toward

These Employers Ain't Loyal

Yo
I got this letter from my employer
It said I got a raise
.75% more is what I will be paid
Starting next year
Damn
Where I stand is clear
Been working here
Year after year
But that is worth less than the bosses next boat
So he can throw a yacht party
On the lake afloat
It’s cause these employers ain’t loyal
Got no love for their workers toil
If they could
They’d rip off that tie off of you and send you back to work the soil
All these employers want
Is to count their money
Laugh on the golf course with the other bosses
About how they run their business is so funny
No work
All the mother fucking money
Can’t even fill my tummy
But come to work everyday
When I get my check on payday
Fuck rent to pay
I can’t buy food
Damn I wish these employers were loyal
Not just taking all the spoils
Cause it is clear
All they care about is their own
How much they get
Me and the boss have never met
They keep it that way
So they don’t even care
When I get that pink slip that day
And I watch my future slip away
Not just bills I can’t pay
Mouths I can’t feed
My wife
She too has needs
I know how you feel about me
You’re a boss
So all you see are costs
Not people
Definitely not friends
And not human beings
Creatures
Not things
In the end
We’re the same
So perhaps we should change

A Dream Comes True

What happens when a dream comes true?
What do you do?
Believe it is not for you?
Feel it must be for someone else
Perhaps one with more wealth
Feelings others have felt
Not you
For you are not allowed to have your dream come true
Why can’t you be worthy
Why not you as the one who is deserving
It should be
I’ve been watching
I hope they too do see
All you do
How you’re wonderful
And beautiful
And how you deserve to get what it is you dream
At least if it we’re up to me
I’d give you that
Plus infinity
And soon we’ll both see
A dream can be the same as reality
All we have to do is live graciously
Patiently
Do not be the one to dictate dreams
Just wish them
And ask for assistance from the Lord above
Everything
The One
Each day we can make our world
In every deed done
In every kind act
In the bond we share
Our holy pact
Living in love
Heart to heart
The next time a dream I dream comes true
The next sign of a holy clue
I won’t only think of you
I’ll be thankful
And grateful
That my dream did come through
Because the dream I dream now is for me
So I can do my part in plenty
Fulfill my own goals
Mend my own heart’s holes
I wait patiently
Until that day
The day my dream is real
And love is all I feel

The Last Dream

The day could come soon
Maybe tomorrow
Maybe this afternoon
It might not come at all
I’ll just wait forever for the call
Go alone to the ball
Stay in my apartment that is small
Why move?
It’s just me here
No need for more space
No extra closet
No need to move to a new place
When you’re alone
It’s just you that is home
And when you get there after a long day
No one greets you
No one asks, how was your day?
Or want to listen to what you say
I don’t love it this way
But I don’t hate it either
Cause my patience has been tested
My tolerance for others
Close to zero
Yeah you guessed it
Probably why things are like this
Probably why at night it is always the same wish
Please Lord help me change this
Rearrange this
So I too can know bliss
Again feel a warm kiss
From someone who means it
And I can mean it too
Not feel like lying when I say
I love you
But what will I do
When that dream does come true
No more excuses to be blue
Nothing really to undo
I just wonder who
Wonder if it is not you
Then who will make my heart beat
Make me not want to cheat
Make me feel special and unique
This is my last dream
I’ve already got
And done all the other things
Seen what it means to really be a human being
May I just be me
And may that be enough for you
Can we go to a world where it is just us two
Oh please
I wish this dream to be true
May it come one day soon
Maybe after the next full moon
When it is my sign again
And on my birthday
Let’s begin
Maybe in the same place
The one next to the lake
And this time when we come home
We won’t be friends
We won’t be lovers
We’ll be connected
We’ll be part of one another
