That’s not what we’ve been told
Work till you’re “old”
Retire, sit still
Grow mold
This is not the path
Not how our lives should unfold

I met a girl
She confirmed it for me
She’s beautiful and bright
Golden shinning light
The words she spoke
That came from here beautiful mind
Her full heart
I knew she could do it
I knew she was smart
When we talked she said what I wanted to hear
It was quite clear

I had a teacher
He showed me how
By not talking about now
Because today things are all a mess
Hate, hurt, too much stress
He said: “this is not us!”
We can do much better
Let’s figure it out

We’re all smart

get past this tit for tat
There is so much to learn
Who knows what’s “true”
It is not an equation to solve
Life is an experience
A chance to evolve
We do that when we decide
To take each day one at a time
Make our goal to be a bit better
Not until some end
Just always moving forward
Leading from within
He showed me books
He showed me things
I asked how long it took to learn what he knew
He made it clear when he said:
I’m not nearly done
So many things to put in this head
I’m always learning
I’m always asking
Always looking
To learn and grow all I can
Because I know that will make me a better man
It was then that I heard it again

I have a sensei
She helps me grow
Teaches me things to know
Not about this outside world
What’s within
How to listen
How to sit
Be comfortable with who you are
Know you’re a star
Just like everybody else
A being of light
Limitless self
It takes much practice she said
Take time to meditate
Unclog your head
We studied together in a Dojo
Month after month we practiced
At the breakfast table we discussed what we had learned
I listened to what she said
And said the same when it was my turn

I asked God if what I heard was true
It was no surprise when I heard God reply
Who said that first?
I’m not sure I said, but I just can’t get it out of my head
That’s because I put it there God said

I’m glad you all have begun
To remember the only truth I hope you learn
There is nothing you can’t do
Just keep telling yourself what I told you

We are not that different
You and I
Got the same parts inside
Same mind, same heart
It’s our spirit, that’s the different part
Funny thing is:
Our spirits come from the same source
Come to Earth on the same course
Only each with slightly different lessons
Each of our time here, a different session
Same purpose, same focus, same mission
Make this world what it ought to be

I needed some time
Wanted to take some space
Put the past behind
Relax, unwind
There was so much to think about
So many thoughts running around
It wasn’t that I didn’t need my friends
Don’t need my fam
I need them now even more
Would I had known that before?
I climbed mountains
I skied their slopes
I searched and questioned
What brought you here was how I would begin
Start a convo, make new friends
Unfortunately many times it would end
When more drinks got bought
I didn’t want want that
I wanted to share my thoughts
Not memories of times gone by
About the future, about our time to fly
I knew it before
Not when school got out
But when bored in class
The thoughts came easily when I let them
It was then when I started asking questions
Started trying to learn the lessons
I learned all I could
But I needed something more
Things that were closer to the other shore
Years gone by
Dreams coming true
Underneath this bright blue sky
This would happen I knew
But I had to do this
Had to take a trip
Load up the car, watch miles go by, tick tick
It started the day I settled
I knew I could make it
Each day, bit by bit
That’s how it works
I know it’s true
Because I believe it in my heart, through and through

We are all Divine

We are all divine
That simple
We all shine
That is not blasphemy
Not just rhyme
It’s unequivocal truth
Are you ready for the proof?

Stop saying mine
Ask: “are you there?”
The answer won’t come to your ears
More likely flow through tears

The universe extends
Beyond all imagining
Each part a piece of a larger part

Universal truth
How can we not be divine?
When you see a smile

You don’t know that because your mind
What happens when you see a frown?
A sad face
Someone feeling down
It hurts whether we know them or not
All we want is to make it stop
Lift them up bring them cheer
No need to shed these tears
Again, not your brain that gives you this info
From your heart is where it does flow
That’s where everything lives
That’s how you know
We are all divine
Take a deep breath
Straighten up your spine
Pay attention, be alive
Take down that veil
Let that beautiful light shine
Then it is obvious

Tomorrow

I know what’s wrong
That list is super long
I don’t want to point it out
I don’t want to just shout
I’m done making a scene
I’m ready to do my part
Do what it takes
Produce some art
Talk to people
Ask them questions
Hope they just reinforce the same lesson
