Love and Basketball

It rained again today

I would of called to say

One game of one on one

You win and I’m done

I’ll leave

You won

The game and my heart

But you win

We part

I’ll just keep my mouth shut

And close the door

Forget all we were before

What we might of been

I guess I’ll stop calling you my best friend

Scroll past as your new life begins

With one game it did all end

I can act and play pretend

Eventually my heart will mend

Or Maybe I'll never love again

That is how life goes

The future is never known

Even though my heart shows

I miss the mark

Slam dunk in my face

Late night in the park

I’ll retreat

Play my part

A specter of the past

You’re the first

But not the last

The one that got passed

But I got that steady job

Down at the bank

Not talking shots

Deposit slips, withdrawals, transactions

Additions

Subtractions

The way my heart feels

Not sure I really want it to heal

Regrettably I pulled out of that pro deal

Could of had it all

Could of still had the fire to ball

Cause I lost that game we played

Was it love?

Or basketball?

Either way

It’s just me today

It’s raining and the skies are grey

And I remember how it started

On a day just like today

But that was long ago

And so was the ending

But if you ask to play

Double or nothing

I'll be there

With my heart to share

Love and basketball is in the air
