Cancer is a water sign
Emotional and protective by design
Hard shell
But sensitive on the inside
Cancer is summertime
Hot and hazy days
The setting of one of Shakespeare’s plays
I do not know Cancer in that many ways
We don’t tend to get along
Cause I make a joke
And they take it wrong
Don’t tend to like the same song
Cancer likes to show they are strong
Even though they are a softy
Just like the crab that they be
However Cancer is special to me
And not because it is also a disease
That took thee
But cause even though we live differently
I still remember
Those times we were together
I wondered if I’d felt better
But like I do
I wandered while I wondered
Searched out the lightning and the thunder
The excitement in the world
While you were home wanting to hold
Feel comfortable
And vulnerable
To know
That we could be one
I would be the one to make you whole
Again dear Cancer
I guess you were not told
Gemini will only break your heart
Aries didn’t mention that at the start?
With Gem you only get a part
Only a little at a time
Cause they’re everywhere and nowhere all at the same time
As light as the air
And as fickle as a summer storm
One minute a downpour
The next sunny blue skies
Please Cancer don’t cry
You’ll find your guy
It’s just not me
Unfortunately
It is sad for me too
Because how us Gems do
Just leave us on our own
No one wants to get us alone
No request to visit others homes
No texts on a mobile phone
Maybe a few moans
But their gone by the morn
Never heard from again
At least see them on Facebook so you know their not dead
Cancer let’s be friends
Cause that is all I Gemini is left with in the end
No lovers
Or other parties interested
Let me at least bring you out of your shell
So in someone else’s arms you can dwell
I’ll keep your secret
I won’t tell
I’ll be happy I got to know you well :)

Raining Raining Raining
Man
It sure is raining
Raining, raining, raining
Raining hard like it did all week before the JV championship game
Started on the day of our first date at the bagel shop
Back to your apartment
In the rain we did walk
It’s raining like the first night you asked me to take you home
We left the party
I said my car was a few blocks away
We got soaked
But who cares we’re going to take our clothes off anyway
It’s raining like it did the night of my 28th birthday
Dancing at a show
In red rocks glow
It’s not suppose to rain like this in Colorado
What do I know
I’m not a weatherman
How the weather works
I don’t really understand
But this I do know
I am sure it’s God’s plan
And I once saw this story
That Aquarius season starts with raining
The Earth replenished
Sadness waning
All things useless draining
Is that what is happening?
Finally the new world is commencing
So why are there so many people demonstrating
Irritated
And agitated
Demanding the truth no longer be fabricated
Maybe that is the beginning of the new world?
Maybe all this rain is needed
Maybe we should all rinse off
Get rid of all that bad stuff
So tomorrow we can wake up brand new
And I can just watch all this rain on the porch sitting next to you
Kind of just want to go out in it
Get really wet
Not give a shit
If you don’t know by now
Water is life
And when it falls from the sky
Know those are blessings from on high
Individualized drops from the Divine
We need to free our minds
Heal our bodies
And open our hearts
Then I think the Age of Aquarius will start
I hope there will be miracles
Like when Moses made the Red Sea part
I also hope there will be lots of art
Our worries will depart
Happiness will go off the charts
All my happy memories
Of times in the rain
In my mind
And in my heart they will stay
From now
Until my last days
It sure is raining
Raining, raining, raining
Raining hard like it did all week before the JV championship game

What If
What if there was no Robert E. Lee?
Would there still be a confederacy?
Probably
What if there was no Martin Shkreli?
Would there still be devilish pharmaceutical companies?
Oh most definitely
What if the police no longer had guns?
Would we then stop having to bury our black sons?
Not likely
Cause even if you can’t shoot a black man dead at a traffic stop
You can still believe that their life is not worth a lot
What if Paul Ryan was not in power?
And Mitch McConnell too
Do you think Republicans would ever want to give healthcare to you?
Do you believe the president when he talks?
Cause when that man tells the truth it is a shock
And he hardly does
So if you think a politician will save us
Ya’ll are dead wrong
Neither will a great speech by the writer of today’s best songs
Or going to a rally or a march
A button, a pin or some long Facebook post
Here comes the part that hurts the most
Our new world is in our hands
And our hearts
So instead of demanding things
Let’s just start
Transform ourselves into light from dark
We all must do the work
No getting out of it
We gotta go down to our own pit
Uncover the bones
And the horror of all we’ve been
So one day we won’t even think about that time back when
Or believe some stupid phrase like maker America great again
The truth can hurt
But it is always true
Hating each other is something we love to do
The mirror stands right in front of us
We don’t like what we see
Put on more make-up
But like Beyonce says it’s the soul that needs surgery
The soul of each of us
And our nations soul needs to be delivered
Please Lord baptize us in your holy river
But the Lord said confess you are all sinners
Our mouths were sealed
Fingers pointed
Our truth revealed
Can’t get by petty personal things
Still live in a country based on slavery
I could be wrong
Maybe
But evidence seems otherwise
Definitely can’t spell compromise
Or even realize
We are in this together
From now until eternity
Until we all are none of us will ever be free
How can I write that so easily?
And state it so simply
But feel that no one is listening
Just smashing their keys incessantly
Getting in their two cents
Trying to count likes
Not trying to make sense
Rather get drunk than make friends
Rather say bye then let love begin
People keep talking about this new world
But I don’t know when
Or if we will ever make it there
If all we care about is our ourselves
Our own personal wealth
If I got mine
Well fuck your health
America the beautiful
Has a hideous personality
Probably why we haven’t settled down and started a larger global family
Maybe if we stopped competing
Actually started teaching
So kids again love learning
Perhaps watching someone die on the nightly news
Cause of the color of their skin
Won’t get a million comments about a sin
What an outcry
Perhaps if we all loved each other
As we are meant
A white cop would see a black man as a brother
A representative would care about their people
A healthcare company would care more about healing then it does about money
Not really trying to be cute or funny
But give me one reason why this can’t be?
Why do I feel so crazy?
Cause a world of love is what I see
And that is the only world that God and I want for me
Would there still be a confederacy?

Go For It
I love you
I think you know
But fear is what you show
Why?
Why be scared of your beauty inside?
Are you scared I see it too?
And that is why I love you
I know we do not know each other that well
Or even for that long
But when we met
I felt I have known you all along
I knew we would be friends
I know I will love you until the end
Regardless of whether we are together or not
Even if you just wanted to take me to bed
Cause you thought I was hot
I still love you
Even when you leave and I have no clue
Your reasons why
Fully disguised
Because you said no words
Not even goodbye
That won’t change my love for you
So baby please don’t hide
Not from me
Not from anybody
Cause if you’re afraid of my love
Then aren’t you afraid of love from everybody?
Believe me sweetheart
That will only leave you lonely
Worse yet you’ll just be a phony
Cause we all want love
I know I do
But I too was just like you
Scared to give my heart to anyone
And there I was left with no one
Just memories of that one time
And hopes for another
But
We never ended up together
I guess I should expect where I am at
No one in the car sitting where another love once sat
Time does not travel back
Now my love
I can’t hold back
Baby of course I love you
And why wouldn’t I
You’re beautiful and your aura has all the hues
Forget social cues
I want to look straight into your eyes
And speak soul to soul
Whether your twenty or a million years old
You deserve to be told
And the only reason being because of you
Because of who you are
Your unique eyes
Your own personal star
Honey
Please realize
To love’s invitation
Never deny
For those of us who mean to love
We will abide
I think you know
But fear is what you show
Why?
Why be scared of your beauty inside?
Are you scared I see it too?

Honey
Please realize
To love’s invitation
Never deny
For those of us who mean to love
We will abide
One of Us
Let’s be our best
Because we all know we can
Don’t need a college degree to understand
Actually before school you should of known you we’re a part of God’s plan
More than a man
Or woman
An unlimited being
Designed out of love
And crafted compassionately
For love there is no limit to our capacity
Why are we acting so selfishly?
As if life were a game
Only meant for winning
Everyone in our path
In the way of our getting
No thoughts of giving
Just what’s the score
And what’s the inning
A lot of Christians
And a lot of us sinning
Last time I read the Gospel
The wise words of the Apostles
Didn’t read much about possessions
But it was clear Paul had an obsession
In his letters to the Corinthians
Love got plenty of mention
Those words stick with me
Love is patient
Love is kind
Much rather keep that in my mind
Then waste myself working for money all the time
And extravagant things
Why should I?
I am a human being
A Divine Machine
Hand crafted by Lord Everything
Made special and unique
My own marks at the end of my hands and feet
Eyes that are only mine
A heart that shines
Yours does too
I am just like you
We are all the same
Just different in prints and names
None of us win when we play this game
Of who is better than who
Or what I do
Is more important than what you do
We have our own paths
But from the same mold we have been cast
Our bond will forever last
Now here is our task
Remember we all need each other
Much closer to brothers
Than we are to rivals
We need everyone’s effort
For everyone's survival
Each can do the part they can
Those who can lend a hand
Do so
And do understand
That others still deserve their share
Because through our pure hearts we always care
There is no longer a reason to deny
Or keep asking the question why
Wake up
Hello

Hello
Hi
The day we have awaited for has arrived
Wednesday, July 5, 2017
Inside Out
Show me your light
Show me your dark
I won’t run
And I won’t hide
For I know not to fear your insides
Mine are the same
Let’s not play this game
Say something
And I say something to make the subject change
Let’s be honest
Let’s tell the truth
We are both beings of light
We both have parts that live in eternal night
Baby I’m no longer scared
No longer will I deny
The beauty
Or the misery
On my insides
So please from me do not try and hide
Because I love both your light and dark sides
And all your other parts
I see and love the whole of you
Not just parts of your pie chart
That is not how it works
We do not get to pick or choose
The best we can do
Is walk a mile in each others shoes
I want to learn all about you
Then I might be able to decide how much I actually love you
Know this
I take you for who you are
That is your gift
Your completeness is for me
So you can let me see
I will unveil me
So you can really see
Then we will know each other clearly
But that is the hardest part for me
Not when I see you
But when I just be
And you see me
Cause lately
That is the ending
Of our young relationships beginning
What would of happened if I did more pretending
Just talked about my job
My desire to buy a house
How much I hate my wireless mouse
But I guess I just love to talk about myself
Not my desires for more wealth
Then I cannot hold my tongue
And I mention my mental health
Our love now grows dust on my bookshelf
Just like the other relics up there
My thoughts drift to no one cares
I am just a novelty
Someone to take as a late night hobby
But keep me on the surface
Even though to love is our divine purpose
So please show me you
And I’ll show you me
And together in love we can be
With our light
With our dark
With all our parts
Show me your dark
I won’t run
And I won’t hide
For I know not to fear your insides

4th of July
It’s America
The land of the free
And the home of the brave
At least so they say
Be proud to celebrate our independence day
Eat hotdogs and hamburgers today
Dressed in red, white and blue
You and your bae
But what do we really have to celebrate?
July 4th, 1776 was the date
Today just mired in political debate
Doesn’t make sense
Both sides just spew hate
In love we fail to demonstrate
Even though each weekend
Many of us congregate
And worship
Beg God to forgive
And bring fortune
When I look at this country
I do not practice patriotism blindly
I do so when I see the signs around me
When I see neighbors become friends
And more than that
When they say I love you and I’ll always take you back
When I see teachers happy to be stuck behind paper stacks
Sign hearts on all the papers they give back
In the America I see
Doesn’t matter if your white and your boyfriend is black
Doesn’t matter if it is the other way as a matter of fact
I see an America where men love men
And raise beautiful sons
Regardless of who he chooses to love their love cannot be undone
My America you sure are a beautiful one
Your majestic peaks
Your busy bustling city streets
America I know you’re beautiful
But sometimes I turn on the news
And you seem so awful
Shootings and killings
Police assignations
Another black man dead on the pavement
Cause the police were scared
The man had long hair
And clearly had their hands in the air
A crowd of people scream how do you dare?
How do you not care?
My heart hurts
I’ve been there
Officer how could you kill your brother?
Didn’t you hear Jesus demand love one another?
Assassin is not the job of a police officer
But America I still love you
Even with the ugliness you do
With the wealth disparity
The political hypocrisy
Cause I know I am not perfect
And neither is my country
But it promised it would be
On the fourth of July
A couple hundred years back
That is when we set this track
Our ride to our future
Made from our past
So let’s make a future that is going to last
Be honest with what is our task
And if we are a Christian nation
Let’s be that
Love our neighbors
As ourselves
All fifty stars
United to thirteen bars
Forget that trip to Mars
Our future is on Earth
America we can do it
No need to prove it
Just be who we are
Imperfect
And with scars
But there is no other place
I would rather be
Cause here in America
Is the only place I can be me
The land of the free
And the home of the brave
At least so they say
Be proud to celebrate our independence day
